Presented in Tonghai County, Yunnan — Supporting the Preservation and Development of Khatso Ethnic Cultural Heritage.
· 中国慈善基金会
At the same time, representatives of the Foundation traveled to Xingmeng Mongolian Ethnic Township, Tonghai County, Yuxi City, Yunnan Province, to attend the "Tonghai Xingmeng · Cloudborne Kazhuo" Kazhuo cultural series and the Second "Kazhuo Cup" International Archery Invitational. The event was grandly held on an outdoor stage; on the stage’s large backdrop screen the inscriptions "Tonghai Xingmeng · Cloudborne Kazhuo" and "Zhongyi Cultural Tourism" shone in concert, LED screens on both sides displayed portraits of Kazhuo ethnic figures, and a professional lighting array rendered the stage resplendent.
At the opening ceremony, Foundation representatives joined local government leaders, cultural scholars, inheritors of ethnic culture, and domestic and international guests on stage for a group photograph. Several guests wore blue khatas, and a number of cultural bearers in traditional Mongolian dress were particularly striking — a woman in a red Mongolian robe held a morin khuur (horsehead fiddle), a man in a dark Mongolian robe wore a traditional hat, and a man in a blue Mongolian robe held a document — vividly demonstrating the cultural characteristics of the Kazhuo Mongols.
The Kazhuo people are a distinct group unique to Xingmeng Township, Tonghai, Yunnan, descended from Mongol troops of the Yuan dynasty. After more than seven hundred years of development they have formed a unique Kazhuo culture. The Foundation’s participation in and support for the Kazhuo cultural series aim to assist the preservation, transmission, and development of minority cultures, promote intercultural exchange and mutual learning among all ethnic groups, and empower rural cultural revitalization through charitable efforts.
